One option is to simple grab something healthier (duh) and another option is creating homemade Halloween favorites instead of purchasing them! We're in the middle of a pandemic. Stay home people, it's not rocket science! Grab the Red-headed Stepchild of CandyNo one truly likes them. It's probably why they're always fully stocked when you go down the aisle. Yet, we see commercials for them all the time. Apparently only mom's like them so they can get away from their families. I'm talking about York Peppermint Patties. Yep, those not so tasty, dark chocolate, "cooling sensation" candies! My opinion aside, I highly recommend swooping these up. The dark chocolate coating the sugar center is what automatically makes these significantly healthier than your usual Three Musketeers bar or M&Ms. Only one of these patties contains 3.1 grams of total fat. And get this: NO CHOLESTEROL! While one patty does have a total of 35 grams of total carbohydrates and 27 grams of sugar (thanks to the peppermint-filled center), at least they're not candy corn. If these don't tickle your fancy, please try another candy-aisle staple: Sun-Maid Vanilla Yogurt Raisins. Target has these in orange and black in mini snack boxes perfect for a sweet-tooth snack on your couch. diy CandyCooking is something I love to do! Now that you have options and ideas for healthier treats to pig out on during your quarantine Halloween, I encourage you to branch out to try the York Peppermint Patties (they also come in minis) and put your kitchen and creative skills to the test and see what you come up with!
