Sourdough bread baking. Work Zoom happy hours. TikTok choreographed dances. If all of these quarantine trends seemed either too much work or too much pressure, than you probably found yourself asking, "how can I get through this endless quarantine?" At first, mine was creating these amazing 2,000-piece puzzles! But when I ran out of room to store them, I turned to an age-old past time: binging TV shows! And since we're stuck living our best lives quarantined and wearing yoga pants all the time now, why not pair it with some wonderful shows? So instead of spending time scrolling through your streaming services, I'll give you a crash course in some of the shows you'll definitely want in your queue to binge watch starting now. Grace and FrankieGrace and Frankie currently has six seasons on Netflix (and one final season scheduled) so you'll be in for many, many hours of binging to catch up! Sweet MagnoliasAnother one about starting over with your friends by your side. How can you not love these? This Netflix rom-drama is based on the novels of the same name. Yup! There are 11 novels. So, if you end up enjoying this one-season binge, go and read them to enjoy even more awesomeness. Alexa & Katie
The Spanish PrincessI binged the first season after I watched its predecessors. Now, I block off a whole hour each Sunday to watch this historical drama about Queen Catherine of Aragon (King Henry VII's first wife) on Starz! This is one you can watch without a streaming service, but if you don't get those premium channels included in your cable package, you can binge watch The Spanish Princess for free with the Starz app for seven days! Enjoy! ReignReign was my go-to show in college. Also on Netflix, Reign follows the early story of Mary Queen of Scots in France. And while the fashion isn't historically accurate at all, it's definitely a selling point to watch this show. There are some historical accuracies you can learn, though, since there aren't too many Hollywood depictions of this misunderstood queen. Normal PeopleAwesome writing? Check. Perfectly cast? Check. Will you cry? Check. The BBC really knocked this one of out the park! And thanks to Hulu, us Americans get to binge this amazing show. Sadly, there is only one season, and it will probably stay only one if the book is any indication. But trust me when I say you won't regret watching the one and only season of Normal People because you'll relate in one way or another to the characters since we are all normal people, too! Schitt's CreekWhile we'll never figure out how to "fold in the cheese", we do find out why Schitt's Creek is definitely the show of 2020! It's pure comedic genius brought to us by the father-son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy. No family is perfect, and this one takes the cake with dysfunction. But despite the quirkiness of them all, you see the (tough) love emanating in the most hilarious ways! Currently streaming on Netflix and the free streaming service, CW Seed, prepare yourself to laugh until you cry for six whole seasons. Spoiler alert? This show killed it at this years' Emmys. If that's any more indication as to why you should binge watch this show! Never Have I EverWizards of Waverly PlaceBring back your childhood memories with the classic Disney Channel Original Series Wizards of Waverly Place. It's available on the popular streaming service Disney+. Reminisce and laugh through four seasons about the shenanigans of Justin, Alex, and Max Russo. Not only is this show hilarious at its best, it's the feel good show that focuses on family values you'll be excited to watch with your children one day! Friday Night LightsRounding out the list and continuing on the flash-back trend of oldies but goodies, Friday Night Lights' five seasons will send your emotions through the rollercoaster! Available to stream on Hulu, Friday Night Lights will worm its way into your soul and will "Texas forever" stay there. This show set the ball running for many present-day household names like Michael B. Jordan, Taylor Kitsch, and Jesse Plemons. You don't have to love football to enjoy this show, you just have to love damn good tv. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose! Do you have any other shows you've binge watched recently, or are getting ready to start? Share with us which ones are your favorite past times in the comment section below!

If you are anything like me, you find that wearing a bra is bothersome about 95% of the time, but also love doling out money on them at Victoria Secret. Before working from home became the norm due to the pandemic, you'd find that sometimes my bra would be off before my shoes would after walking through my door following a long day in the office. Ah, the freedom! They love to breath! And if I can get away with it, I'll take wearing a bralette over the standard brassiere any day.
Benefits of Wearing a BraLet's not forget that wearing a bra prevents sagginess! No one wants to be able to tuck their boobs into their socks. Not even your grandma. Many of us wear a bra to boost our confidence. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! If before all you could wear into your office was stuffy business professional attire, then maybe that sexy lace or cheetah print bra was what you needed to feel confident! Or maybe you just want to go up a cup size to fill out that beautiful top. Regardless, do you, boo! One last benefit I’ll touch upon (even though there are many more - just search) is the fact that going braless can enhance the muscle tissue and our pectoral muscles in order to provide natural support. DrawbacksFirst and foremost, never should you ever sleep with a bra on. Not even a bralette or a sports bra. That's a no-no! But even throughout the day, taking some time to go braless also has its advantages. Blood circulation is one thing our ta-ta's definitely need. And bras restrict blood flow to an extent. Even if you do wear the proper size! Also, you are saving the ever so sensitive skin that is underneath your breasts. Chafing is no fun, but it's also inevitable with sweat and wire bras that you sometimes wear during hot summer months. Many liners in bras and the overall fabric don't absorb your sweat. Humidi-titties are no joke in Texas! So skip the breakouts, inflammation, odor, and, yes, yeast infections (they don't just occur vaginally)! some alternatives if It's Hard to Imagine Your Life Wearing a bra day in and day outLike I mentioned above, bralettes are my go-to when a bra is necessary but don't want to engage in the struggle. They are also so stylish! Colors, styles, and fabrics, oh my! But there are also many other choices when it comes to going "bra-lite" such as the classic sports bra. Just be careful because these, too, have drawbacks like keeping the ribcage from functioning properly. Bandeaus, camis with a built in bra, and nearly naked bras that come in so many different styles might be your new best friends, if like me, bras seem to be your frenemies. Whether you are pro-bra or against it, it's good to know what your chi-chis are in for no matter what your preference is!
So how do you hold your breasts up usually? How are they holding up during the recent WFH attire you've adopted? Bra all day every day, or hoping they defy gravity? Comment below!
One option is to simple grab something healthier (duh) and another option is creating homemade Halloween favorites instead of purchasing them! We're in the middle of a pandemic. Stay home people, it's not rocket science! Grab the Red-headed Stepchild of CandyNo one truly likes them. It's probably why they're always fully stocked when you go down the aisle. Yet, we see commercials for them all the time. Apparently only mom's like them so they can get away from their families. I'm talking about York Peppermint Patties. Yep, those not so tasty, dark chocolate, "cooling sensation" candies! My opinion aside, I highly recommend swooping these up. The dark chocolate coating the sugar center is what automatically makes these significantly healthier than your usual Three Musketeers bar or M&Ms. Only one of these patties contains 3.1 grams of total fat. And get this: NO CHOLESTEROL! While one patty does have a total of 35 grams of total carbohydrates and 27 grams of sugar (thanks to the peppermint-filled center), at least they're not candy corn. If these don't tickle your fancy, please try another candy-aisle staple: Sun-Maid Vanilla Yogurt Raisins. Target has these in orange and black in mini snack boxes perfect for a sweet-tooth snack on your couch. diy CandyCooking is something I love to do! But since I am not a candy person, I found it interesting that you can create your store favorites in your own kitchen! Throw in a few healthy ingredients like
Now that you have options and ideas for healthier treats to pig out on during your quarantine Halloween, I encourage you to branch out to try the York Peppermint Patties (they also come in minis) and put your kitchen and creative skills to the test and see what you come up with!
Comment below with how you liked the patties or the raisins or if you concocted a healthy new Snickers. Or maybe you have a healthy candy/snack you want to share! I'd love to try them out as I'm sure the readers would, too!
Although that tidbit might separate Sagittarius from Aries and Leo, one thing that bonds them is that they are passionate and unpredictable, just like the element they represent! But, along with that passion comes recklessness. And boy are we Sagittarians known for it! Reckless not just with our actions, but with our emotions, too. We feel things very deeply and our hearts are a permanent fixture on our sleeves. Sagittarius: A Hopeless RomanticCommitted relationships are our thing. Us Sagittarians don't play when it comes to following our heart. Once we fall for someone, we are all in. We are lovers at heart and our best selves come alive when in love. Sagittarius shine when the romance is hot and heavy. But even when the lust falls away and replaced with steady comfort, we are extremely loyal. Love is an adventure for us. And our perfect partner (is there really such a thing?) is someone who will always make us laugh, think, and challenge ourselves. We love freedom and have a wild spirit. So, nothing turns us off more that being tied down, censored or controlled. Don't tame the flame! You'll get scorched in the process of doing so. Domesticity isn't really our thing! But now that you know all of this, falling in love with a Sagittarius is quite possibly the greatest experience you'll ever know! Our love is hard to duplicate. Our passionate fire sign is wrapped within a sweet romantic flair that'll knock you off of your feet! Sagittarius: Jupiter Rules
Sagittarius: The CentaurHalf-animal, half-man. The Centaur is a mythological creature that usually represent wisdom, deep thinking and always searching for the bigger picture. But like the bestial side of the Centaur, Sagittarians can't be tamed! Sagittarius: Our Own Worst EnemyDreamer. Idealist. Escapist. Values privacy. Acts first.
These are just some of the characteristics that a Sagittarius can claim. And while on the outside, they seem like wholesome virtues, these are also aspects that can hinder our personal growth. One thing that I have never truly been able to understand is how people can go from relationship to relationship, back-to-back. Do they take any time at all to recover or grieve? What is the tie frame taken to process what went wrong and how things can be changed going into the next one? Also, what about the amount of time you spent devoted to learning and being with another person? I'm not saying your relationship should drain you. On the contrary, the best relationships gives you time and space away from your partner while still thriving! Which is why if your relationship comes to an end, you are still standing strong on both feet with your self still in tact. So, the whole jumping from relationship to relationship never made sense because you aren't giving yourself time to discover who you are alone. Also, you're depriving yourself of having a Singleversary! No need to go into detail about what the word Singleversary means. You get it. So, despite our society's negative connotation with singledom (no matter what the articles say), throwing on your party hat and blasting that happily single playlist you've been steadily putting together is quite possibly the best thing you can experience! Now gather around while Health Like Me dives into the joys and necessity of celebrating your singleversary! Yay!
Celebrating your singleversary means self-reflection. Finding out who you are at different stages of your life is the ultimate goal!
How to Properly Celebrate itStarting a new book, taking an ACV bath, picking up a new hobby, working out, traveling alone.... the list could go on and on! Embracing being single is a right of passage that needs to be a right of passage we all need to make time for, no matter what our sex is! You might find a hidden talent or revisit something you may have forgotten you once loved. And those are spectacular finds indeed!
Don't limit yourself whilst celebrating. Do it all! You will be so surprised at what you discover within yourself and you will be so much more open and adamant to maintaining your autonomy once you find yourself in a mature relationship. One of the first things I zone in on about a guy I'm into is his jaw line. Why? Well, I can recall giving a description of why I think jaws are sexy to one of my college roommates way back when: I think it's a good indication of how great a kisser I think he is. I have this theory that a strong jawline means more of an ability to detach itself when the guy is making out with you. It allows more range. Obviously, my theory was off by a landslide. There is no evidence to prove otherwise. Unfortunately. Nevertheless, we all get that rush of utter joy — more on that soon — when our lips mesh with those of a potential mate. But, even more happens when you get lost in the sensation of a hot and steamy make out session. Health Like Me is here with all the fun benefits that making out with that hottie at the coffee shop, crush from the office or even your spouse! Let's go! 1. Makes us Happier2. Prevents cavities4. Relieves CrampsThe same effect of dilated blood vessels and increased blood flow that go along with reduced blood pressure also applies to relieving crams. Yay! We love finding ways to diminish those pesky period cramps. Health Like Me even devoted an entire post to it! 5. Burns Calories and Tones Facial MusclesLooking to tone up a neck that seems to have a little more extra skin than it did nine years ago? Go make out with your honey! Research supports that a fun way to get your neck and jawline in shape is getting in a potent smooch session. You should note that you are engaging anywhere from 2-34 facial muscles in the act of kissing while experiencing an increased blood flow to your face. Also, your collagen and elastin production will benefit from a boost leading to firmer, younger-looking skin!
Dr. Ryan Neinstein, M.D. who is a plastic surgeon in New York City where pretty much everyone on the Upper East and West sides is expected to look perfect says that "In order to move your lips, your whole face has to get involved..." While he may not be a McSteamy, I'll Neinstein's word for it! So, now you can ditch the Botox. |
